Ameer Makhoul, General Director of ITTIJAH arrested tonight by the Shabak

Ammer Makhoul, General Director of The Union of Arab Community Based Associations in Israel (ITTIJAH) and the Head of the Popular Committee for the Protection of Political Freedoms, has been taken tonight at 3am from his house and arrested by the Shabak.
After the issuing of an order by the Israeli Minister of Interior to prevent him from leaving the country for a period of two months and so denying him the right to travel, tonight eighteen members of the Israeli police has entered in his house arresting him, meanwhile another police group has entered in the offices of ITTJAH, taken the computers and other important materials of the organization.
Today at 11:30am a hearing will be taking place at Petah Tikva Court.
This is part of the escalation of the Israeli policy of prosecution against active political figures, leaders, human rights defenders and activist, as an attempt to crush the popular movement to defend the rights and existence of the Palestinian people
